Cloud Native Networking Bootcamp - Day 2 Workshops

On October 18th and 19th 2018, Telecom ParisTech and Cisco will hold a Cloud Native Networking Bootcamp to share knowledge, experience, and grow community around open source cloud native network and network function virtualization technologies. This two-day event begins with a Conference on Day 1, followed by Workshops on Day 2.

Each full-day workshop will be interactive and hands-on, requiring active participation. The goal is for attendees to be exposed to the necessary tools and techniques to design, deploy, and/or actively contribute to the projects covered.

WORKSHOPS on Oct 19th :

8:30 - 9:00 am : Welcome breakfast
12 am - 1 pm : Lunch Break

9 am - 4 pm Workshop 1 : VPP provisioning using Honeycomb and Ligato by Steven Barth & Stefan Braicu, System Engineers at Cisco. Room: C48.

The workshop will go through the provisioning of L3 connectivity and Segment Routing overlay using either Ligato VPP or Honeycomb Hc2vpp agents.

9 am - 4 pm Workshop 2 : Building Ligato data analytics stack by Chenxi Du & Cristina Precup, Systems Engineer at Cisco. Room: C49.

The attendees will learn how to leverage VPP operational and statistics data, and collect them through the Ligato VPP agent into a data analytics stack for further processing.

9 am - 5 pm Workshop 3 : Contiv VPP deployment with Kubernetes by Giles Heron, Cisco Principal Engineer & Jan Medved, Cisco Distinguished Engineer. Room: H1.

During this demo session, the attendees will go through various Kubernetes Networking workflow using Contiv-VPP CNI plugin. The attendees will see how K8s commands are converted into Contiv-vpp commands and then populate VPP with the proper configuration.

9 am - 5 pm Workshop 4 : Use and Extension of VPP by Neale Ranns, Cisco Technical Leader, Mohsin Kazmi & Nikos Bregiannis, Sofware Engineers at Cisco. Room: H2.

The attendees will get a presentation of VPP, followed by an hands-on session on how to use VPP, code a VPP plugin and write a containerized VNF using GoPacket as well as Ligato on top of VPP.
